Jonathan Ward


Jonathan is a Mindsheet Associate with extensive knowledge of anti-counterfeit and anti-fraud technologies. He worked for over 20 years for De La Rue plc, as Sales Director for the Banknote Division until 2000 and then as Managing Director for the Cash Processing Division where he was responsible for the acquisition of its major US competitor, and the subsequent restructuring of the Engineering and R&D departments to provide a more efficient and productive technology unit.

Throughout his time at De La Rue, he gained a unique understanding of the techniques used by the criminal community to defraud the public, governments, and financial institutions, and the ways in which detection systems can be developed to validate and authenticate security media.

Since leaving De La Rue in 2005, Jonathan has worked as an independent consultant in various sectors related to security but primarily in the banknote industry with respect to the circulation, processing, and distribution of cash. Jonathan also contributed valuable market insight around brand protection for the ITI Techmedia MST programme.

Jonathan has many diverse connections with Central Banks, governments, security organizations, and financial institutions around the world, and has worked with multi-national companies including Giesecke & Devrient, Toshiba Corporation, G4S (Group 4 Securitas) and, Brinks. He has extensive UK Home office connections.

As a long-standing consultant of G4S (Group 4 Securicor), Jonathan has good connections in the Middle East, including Kuwait, Bahrain, Muscat, Jordan, and Lebanon.

Jonathan is now Managing Director of Secura Monde International Ltd (SMI), an independent banknote and cash consultancy which was part of G4S plc until February 2016 when it was re-acquired by the management team. 21 years in De La Rue plc (Global Sales Director, Currency Division, from 1996 to 2000; MD of Cash Processing business stream from 2000 to 2004; Group Manager of the Year in 2000.)
